Japanese tire manufacturer Yokohama has been dedicated to tire design and development for over 100 years, and it sells tires for passenger cars, performance cars, SUVs, crossovers, trucks, and minivans in the United States. Designed for use on sports cars, sporty coupes, and performance sedans, the Advan Apex V601 is the tire manufacturer’s Y-rated ultra-high-performance (UHP) street tire that’s engineered to deliver excellent grip and precision handling in dry and wet conditions. Since it’s a summer tire, it’s not intended for use in winter weather conditions, or on snowy and icy surfaces. But is the Yokohama Advan Apex V601 really as performance-delivering as its facts state? Let’s find out in this Yokohama Advan Apex V601 tire review.
Features and Benefits
The Yokohama Advan Apex V601 comes with all the characteristics that a typical UHP tire must have. It’s optimized for use on sports and supercars in warm weather and undeniably scores high when it comes to offering sporty handling and quick acceleration. Meant to be driven on streets and deliver maximum performance, the Advan Apex V601 comes with various new-gen, patented technologies that contribute to precise handling, maximum grip, quiet ride, and longer tread life.
The Advan Apex V601 ultra-high-performance tire features a solid center rib that enhances high-speed stability, and the sidewalls are optimized for improved strength while also featuring high turn-up and hard bead filler for precise handling in corners and superior lateral stability.
An asymmetric tread pattern works with a high-grade micro-silica tread compound which is intelligently placed on a wide outer rib block for enhanced multi-surface grip, and the innovative 3+1 circumferential grooves of the Advan Apex V601 are designed for a confident wet and dry grip. Additionally, three inner grooves resist aquaplaning and boost wet weather performance, while the narrow outer groove is intended to dissipate heat for optimum dry performance.
The Advan Apex V601 offers abundant comfort to the driver and passengers. It comes with noise-optimized tread grooves and a rigid but adequately flexible tread design. The optimized groove angles efficiently minimize road noise for comfortable and noise-free rides.
For longer tread life, the Yokohama Advan Apex V601 features a rounded rib design that evenly distributes pressure across the contact patch and reduces the risk of uneven, premature wear. In addition, the advanced tread compound with high-grade micro silica assures longer treadwear.
Available in 17 to 21-inch rim sizes, the Yokohama Adan Apex V601 offers a limited treadwear warranty of up to 25,000 miles (12,500 miles on staggered fitments) along with a 30-day trial satisfaction guarantee.
Pros and Cons
Is the Yokohama Advan Apex V601 a right choice in the ultra-high-performance (UHP) tire category or should you consider something else? Let’s find out the pros and cons before we conclude with our take on this tire.
