  • Venom Power Terra Hunter M/T

If you’ve got a truck, Jeep, or SUV that’s four-wheel-drive equipped and you intend to go into some serious mud or sand off-road, you know that all-terrain tires may or may not be the best choice for that kind of terrain and those kinds of conditions. That’s when you really need the traction and durability of a mud-terrain tire.

Mud-terrain tires tend to be pretty noisy and a little rough on the pavement, but they’re really designed for off-road use over broken terrain, rocks, sand, gravel, and (of course) deep, sticky, soupy mud. Venom Power offers a great line of truck tires for both all-terrain and mud-terrain applications, and the Terra Hunter M/T is an option that delivers superb performance with a couple of surprises along the way.

So what is it about this tire that offers that kind of value for drivers of 4WD trucks? Let’s take a closer look with this Venom Power Terra Hunter M/T review.

    Features and Benefits

Mud terrain tires are meant for off-road driving, which means they need to be able to traverse challenging terrains and offer extra durability. Fortunately, Venom Power knows this and built the Terra Hunter M/T with the following features to help drivers during their off-road adventures:

    • Tough construction and a reinforced sidewall for extra strength and durability
    • Durable tread compound engineered to resist cuts, punctures, scuffs, tears
    • Can be used aired-down for rock crawling
    • Aggressive mud-terrain tread with “knife-shaped” center block for enhanced stability on pavement
    • High void ratio and deep grooves for easy ejection of mud, stones and debris, boosting traction so there’s always a clear section of tread to dig in as the tire turns
    • Unique dual sidewall designs – just reverse the tire to use the design that matches your truck’s style
    • Heavily siped sidewall and shoulder to boost lateral traction and claw out of ruts
    • Designed to channel water away and resist hydroplaning on the pavement
    • Available in 33” and 35” diameters for lifted trucks/super-size fitments

    Pros and Cons

    Venom Power Terra Hunter M/T

Here are the things that drivers love about the Venom Power Terra Hunter M/T (and a couple of things they don’t)

    PROS

    • Affordable
    • Unbeatable traction and durability
    • Good self-cleaning of mud and debris
    • Good control off-road

    CONS

    • Noisy on the pavement
    • No treadwear warranty
    • Not the most fuel efficient tire

SimpleTire’s view on Venom Power Terra Hunter M/T tires

There are a lot of mud-terrain tires out there on the market, ranging from pretty affordable ones to super-expensive tires. It’s our take that the Venom Power Terra Hunter M/T is a tire that punches far above its weight class, rivaling tires that cost far more when it comes to durability and off-road traction in deep mud. It does a great job of ejecting mud, stones, and debris, it’s as tough as anything out there, and we do like the two different sidewall designs that you can choose from to match your truck’s aesthetics. Yes, it’s noisy – but you’re probably just going to drive it to your off-road destination anyway, and nobody buys a mud-terrain tire thinking that it’s going to deliver the noise levels of a touring tire on a luxury sedan.

If you opt for the Venom Power Terra Hunter M/T, you’re not going to regret it. You can lower the inflation in this tire for rock-crawling grip, or claw your way through the sloppiest, soupiest mud and still get back home again. This is a tire that definitely delivers on its promise and then some.

Vehicles the Venom Power Terra Hunter M/T is a replacement tire for

Mud terrain tires are paired with larger trucks and SUVs as drivers need extra ground clearance when hitting trails, mud, or rocks. Because of this, vehicles like the Chevrolet Suburban, Ford F-250, GMC Yukon, Honda Ridgeline, Jeep Gladiator, Nissan Titan, RAM 1500, and Toyota Land Cruiser are a natural pairing for the Terra Hunter M/T.

Had to have the tires road forced balanced in order to get a good balance without vibration, been perfect since then, they drive smooth and they are a little noisy but not bad.

Absolutely wonderful tires no balancing issues. They do make quite a bit of noise but it is a mud tire so don't complain.

These are by far the worst tires I've ever purchased! They cannot be balanced! I put em on a new 4runner and the steering wheel and passenger seat shake uncontrollably. They are easy to lock up and slide too. I wouldn't run these on a sxs. They look good tho

Purchased a set of 35x12.50r20's and for the price they're not terrible I guess if your looking for a strictly off-road tire but for on road use, they're terrible. The shake my 2500 Silverado HD at any speed, which does get slightly better as they break in (roughly 500 miles). The noise aspect though, you might as well buy some mud grapplers because they're just as loud and high pitched.
