  • Toyo Open Country C/T

Japanese tire manufacturer Toyo began its journey in 1945 by first rolling out truck tires. Today, they manufacture a wide range of tires for passenger cars, minivans, CUVs, SUVs, light trucks, and ATV/UTV in different categories such as all-season, winter, all-weather, UHP, all-terrain, mud-terrain, rugged-terrain, and more. It is highly revered for its great all-terrain tires, and the Open Country C/T is among those fantastic off-road tires that offer great value at the best price.

Engineered for light trucks, the Toyo Open Country C/T comes with an innovative tread design that offers great traction in mud, gravel, and snow. The rugged tire features a balanced tread compound that not only resists cuts, chips, and stone drilling but also maintains flexibility in low temperatures and extends its tread life. With the Three Peak Mountain Snowflake certification, the Toyo tire can be easily driven in severe winter weather conditions as its deep and wide grooves quickly clear water and slush from the tread to resist hydroplaning. The sturdy 3-ply polyester construction provides additional durability while the strong sidewall design ensures it carries heavy loads effortlessly.

So, does the tire deliver what it promises? Let’s try to find the answer in this Toyo Open Country C/T tire review. Read on.

    Features and Benefits

All-terrain tires are formulated with a special tread compound that is stiff enough to resist tough off-road challenges of rock, mud, gravel, and more. The Toyo Open Country C/T claims to deliver just the right performance expected out of an all-terrain tire. Let’s see what makes it perform to that level.

    • Sturdy built: The reinforced carcass and rugged construction come with 3-ply polyester construction that not only boosts durability but also improves handling and stability. The balanced tread compound resists chips, cuts, and stone drilling while ensuring it remains flexible in sub-freezing temperatures.
    • Superior traction and grip: The deep and wide tread grooves with open shoulder design help it transverse through mild mud, slush, and snow conditions. The Three Peak Mountain Snowflake certification ensures optimum grip and performance in moderate to severe winter weather conditions. The option of TSMI #15 studs can be used in extreme weather further solidifying its winter performance.
    • Great on-road driveability: Contrary to its aggressive tread pattern, the Toyo tire offers a quiet and comfortable ride quality. The optimized tread design with variable pitch sequencing allows minimal road noise to escape, which makes the inside environment of the car calm and composed. Whether it's on-road handling, traction, or stability, the Open Country C/T shines in all the departments.

These tires handle nicely on all surfaces. Good traction. No vibration. There is a little road noise but not bad at all. I have them on my F350 SD and it handles that heavy truck very well. Even looks meaty against the truck. Very happy with these tires. Will see how they do in the snow, but I am pretty confident in them as they have done great in rain, on dirt, pavement etc.

Prefer the C/T over the A/Ts I ran prior. Much more aggressive tread design, better traction and only slightly more road noise. BONUS - Sidewall on mine stamped "Made in the USA"

Put them on a Ford f350 have been very happy with the Treadwear so far. Tires look aggressive and the tread is much deeper than the pictures portray. We have been through a set of toyo at's and a set of toyo at 2 . The ct is much more aggressive of a tire and the sidewall holds the weight of the 1 ton much better than the at's. I am hoping to get the same amount of mileage from the ct's as I did from my toyo at tires.

So far so good, we shall see how they hold up. I pull a 40' gn trailer 95% of the time. Full load would be roughly 30k Low ratings on the winter and tread life simply because I can't honestly speak of it yet.
